Is this normal for a Psychopsis?

This is my Psychopsis Mendenhall ‘Hildos’. I believe the picture is pretty good at showing what's going on...sort of a double pbulb that's sprouted.

Is this normal for a Psychopsis or is it possible I'm doing something wrong in the cultivating of this little guy. I think he's pretty happy...2 spikes...healthy new roots and now a new growth(s)...albeit freaky new growth but still...new growth.

Anyway...this little pbulb thing has me scratching my head. Anyone?

I've never seen this sort of thing happen before but clearly, based on yoru experience and pic, it is possible. Maybe your conditions/care are just really good and the plant is very happy!

Kat,

I have the same Psychopsis, Mendenhall 'Hildos'. I just looked at it closely after seeing your pictures and I also have new growth, smaller than yours but new growth!

I will have to watch mine to see if it does the same thing as yours. It must be their time to grow.

It is funny, that it split. Did it start out with just one?

Here is a picture of mine.

Cool...I'll chalk it up to he's very happy.

April -- when it started, it did look like yours...just the one little growth... that was...um...probably 3 maybe 4 weeks ago I think. I admit...he doesn't get all that much attention...he's on the top of one of the shelves that requires a ladder and he's at the back of the shelf. I can reach him w/the sprayer hose for watering/fert but I don't often pull him out and check him close... except on shower day. [Yes, the 'chids get a shower 1 or 2x a month.] Soooo...that was the long way of saying that it looked like one little growth a few weeks ago and not sure when it started looking like this.

Ok....so I don't pay him much attention and what's he do in return? He produced a twin!
..maybe this is a sign that I sometimes pay toooooo much attention to the 'chids.
...perhaps they do like to be left alone to do their thing w/out my constant fussing, tending and gawking.

LOL! Kat, I just mist my almost everyday and water about once a week or so.

I didn't even notice the growth until I saw your picture and looked closely at mine!!

I suppose they will grow if we fuss or not!
