Dpts help!

Hi Again,
I have 4 Dpts orchids and in three years I cannot get them to bloom. I have them located in my greenhouse right nest to the Phals. The Phals flower but nary a spike on the others. They grow, produce new leaves have lovely roots and are quite healthy. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks,
Nancy:questionsm

I grow mine inside, but would love to have a greenhouse. I've found that my Dtps can take a little more light and water than the Phals. I have one spiking right now that's in a south window, back about 12 inches. I'm no expert, but that's what I do. I also water "weakly" weekly with an orchid fertilizer. Good luck! I'll bet you get some spikage soon!

My Dtps. Purple Gem likes it a little warmer and brighter than typical. It blasted buds like crazy until I moved it to lesser light once the buds were set.

Dpts Help

Thanks you guys. I have mine next to the Phal's on a lower shelf where it is a bit cooler and less light. I will move them higer up and see what happens. It is frustrating that in 3 years nary a bloom! Nancy

I have several dpts. I grow them outside among my other phals. At this time they are all spiking. I have one blue one red and one white.
Dpts Fire Cracker 'Blue Martini'
Dpts Queen Bear 'Red Sky'
Dpts Dottie Kone 'Fangtastic'
They bloom regularly. My temps range from low 90's for summer time highs, and mid- 40's for winter lows. I feed 1/4 strength every week, and my moss is always moist.

No one has yet mentioned the need for a day/night Autumn temp difference of 10-15F. Phals need this in order to initiate their flowering cycle. I suspect your temperatures are fairly even all the time?

Hi.
Kevin has made a very valid point.
No one has yet mentioned the need for a day/night Autumn temp difference of 10-15F. Phals need this in order to initiate their flowering cycle. I suspect your temperatures are fairly even all the time?

Mine are mixed amongst the Phallies, they grow and receive the same conditions and treatment.
I fertilize full strength about 2 time a week in summer, no problems so far. They are reblooming for the second time this summer.

Even in summer my temp. ranges from around 40C at days to as low as 15 C at night, but most nights are around 18 to 25C.
Best of luck
Ron

Dpts help

Thanks to all of you. My plants are in the freenhouse right next to the Phals. The Phals are all spiking. There is the temp range I need in the greenhouse. I did move the Dpts. to an upper shelf with more light. I hope that will do its magic.Nancy
