These are the new growths on my very first orchid. I have had this plant for a year, and in that time it did nothing. It didnt grow, didnt bloom didnt die , it just sat on my desk dormant. In the water I watered it 3every 2 weeks. In June I started watering it 2 times a week. Every other water with fertilizer. And once a month since june I do a plant flush.

Im wondering do I need to separate/divide the plant so that these new growths will have more room. I understand that dens like to be smooshed together but this just seems too close for comfort. Also, is it healthy for the plant to have so many growths on them or do they usually grow like this.

Yep, they grow like that - they like to be crowded alright. If you had no flowers it is probably because it needed more light (at least for one thing). They could like to be in the sun at least half of the day - if you are not giving it lots of sun now try to gradually increase it. If/when you repot go up just a little bit in size - maybe a half inch to one inch at most. It is a little bit difficult to see your photos because they are too small. I have two plants that looked somewhat similar in two inch pots that I transplanted to three inch at the beginning of the summer. I put them on the east side of the house and they get sun until about noon. I only water them approximately once per week and fertilize every other. Both plants are starting to spike multiple places. :-) Mine are planted in fine fir bark.
