Dendrobium lindleyi

Hi all,

Anyone growing this species? Any tips for me?

I just received a plant today and it's fairly mature. The flowers look amazing, I just have to wait until next year to see it flower.

It has been sent in Sphagnum moss, is this the ideal medium for the plant? Does it need warmth?

Thanks guys.

I don't have first hand experience, but this is what I found: intermediate to warm, grow in pot, full sun to half sun.
And also: epiphytic in seasonal climates, often on deciduous trees in strong winter light, 500-2000m (1650-6600ft.)
Good luck!

Thanks Sabien, that is helpful.

I might have to keep it drier in winter when it gets cool here.

it will bloom fairly easily if it is a mature plant. you have the perfect temperature for the plant. but humidity will be a problem for you as it is a warm growing species. use a water
tray to bring up the humidity. For this to bloom well, you need a dry period and it should
bloom in spring. I believe it is approaching summer in Australia, so water a lot and give
it lots of sunlight(indirect) to gain energy for the coming spring bloom.

Ah great! That makes sense, I will be growing it alongside nobiles so this should work out well.

Would you change the sphagnum potting media?

i think you should leave it. Unless you have 70% humidity and daily raining like i do. Then i
would put them in charcoal.
