orchid blooms & stress

Before I bought my house in april I had taken a small division of my Brassia rex and mounted it for my desk at work. The mount has since put out 2 new growths. My specimen plant has new growths to but between the division & move (still in a southern exposure), it seems to have missed flowering this year. This is my one of two reliable bloomers. My other is a Den. noid. Is there a chance for a bloom yet this year or will it be a year or two, until its used to the new home/recover from division, before it'll bloom again? I was looking forward to it since a fellow geek had given me some pollinia and I was looking forward to starting my 3rd project.

Hmmm.. you've got me stumped, lol! Mine skip when I buy blooming out of season or if they have a rough year of not so great culture.

Its not uncommon for orchids that are moved from one location to another or especially divided to skip a blooming season till they settle in and start getting acclimated all over again.

Any plant gets stressed when moved. A new environment does it every time.

There is a chance that the new growths will put out spikes once they mature and the whole plant has acclimated. That's what I'm going through now with my Alcra. Pacific Nova 'Butter Buds'. I got them in Feb./Mar. and both plants put out new growths over the spring/summer. It's those growths that are sending up the spikes. I have one in spike/bud now getting ready to bloom.

Keep babying them. They'll reward ya!
