Please help with my new Dendrobium

Well, I've gone over the edge. I found the beautiful new orchids yesterday at Vons and bought the Intergeneric and the Big Phalaenopsis. I left behind a
lonely purple Dendrobium. Early this morning I went back and it was waiting patiently for me. My question? It is in a pot with slits and holes and there are roots coming out everywhere. Should I repot it and when? I have potting mix for epiphytic orchids, can I use this? It seems healthy and has had one previous spike and several new growths starting. Does anyone know the name of this Dendrobium?

If there was no tag in the pot, you are probably never going to know which hybrid this is, there are just too many like this being produced.

You should only repot if the mix is getting soggy and holding too much water, or disintegrating. If the old mix is firm, then you just need to address the roots coming out of the slits. If this is annoying you, you may want to get a sterilized cutter and cut the old pot away and just slip the rootball into a new pot, roots and all. If you go to a larger pot, you will have to match the old mix so that both parts will dry at the same time. Try to keep the pot as small as possible, as Dens do well in very small pots.
