Stenocoryne stefanae and Epigeneium nakaharaei questions

I got both of these the other day, along with my brassavola nodosa. (I should have put them all in the same post.)

Anyway, I can't find any info on steno culture, except lighting conditions

These are the questions I have about both plants:

How big are mature plants? (how long and wide are the leaves?)

How big are the flowers?

What kind of watering do they like?

What kind of a rest period do they need, and are they decidious or evergreen?

Also, with the epi, there are a lot of old backbulbs on there. If I cut them off and plant them, will they grow new plants like cymbidiums, or will they just die? It seems like the old growths don't grow any new roots, but if they will grow new growths once they are cut from the rest of the plant.

I figured there would be someone here who has grown these, so if any of you could tell me what you have done to make them grow successfully, I would love it. (and so would the plants.)

Hi missann,

Now that you've been with us for a while I think it's time to challenge you a bit to start finding info on your own. You said you couldn't find any info on Stenocoryne culture yet I found both descriptive and cultural info on both plants including pictures after only about 5 minutes of web searching. I also bound both plants in my orchid encyclopedia.

So, how about taking a bit of time and researching these plants and then post the answers to your own questions. I'm a little surprised you didn't do this before you bought them since it is usually a good idea to know if you can provide the cultural condition your plant needs before buying it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you find.

Happy Hunting!
