New Neos, New Pots and Terrible Mounds!

I got my Neofinetia falcata Fu Ran, Neo Benisuzume and pots today, so I tried my hand at sphag mounds. Turns out I'm terrible! Cute pots, though.

The Sedirea japonica I got in June in a new pot with its new leaf

I don't think they look bad at all...as a matter of fact...they look really good! The pots are very pretty. Your plants look fantastic!

You're very kind! I didn't pshop the mounds to look better (in fact, that just now occurred to me, d'oh!) but I did 'cheat' by adding strands after the initial wrap. They're all done with 'pockets' in the bottom because I wanted to drive myself insane(r).

Wow, you did a great job! I just finished repotting some of mine just now. I need longer sphag...repotting the 3 I had was challenging with out the consistent long strands. Great choices in pots and Neos. You'll be very pleased with the Beni

I think they look great too. Every time I try to make a high mound like that, it never stays. Love the Sedirea japonica. Very cute.

Oh, I forgot to ask, but how big is the pot that your Sedirea is in?

It's a small pot; maybe 3.5"? Here's a group shot for an idea:

Honestly, the mound for the Fu ran is rather high. However, that doesn't mean it's bad. It means that one will stand out more.

Overall, you did a very nice job.

It's got such loooooong roots and I wasn't sure about bunching them up, so yeah, I've got a super high mound. So far it's stable, just a little odd, but the pot balances it a little I hope.

Thanks for all the kind words, you big bunch of kind-hearted, erm, prevaricators!

Wow, those look fantastic to me. I tried to do that once but it sure didn't look as good as your does so I took it apart and put the Neos in coconut fiber. I am fairly new here so when you said you got your pots, plants and moss from Glenn Lehr I don't know if that is a website or just someone around where you live. Could you please give me some information on how to contact Glenn Lehr so I could look into getting some pots like yours? Thank you for your help and enjoy your beautiful plants.

Hey I think they look great. Makes me want to repot my neo falcata. the sphag on mine was short cut when I did it so it has really compacted in the last few months. I think the long cut sphag takes longer to compact. BEAUTIFUL pots BTW! I need to get another one for my Sedeiria japonica tomarorw, lol!

Jenny, Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. I am going to look into buying a couple of these pots and TRY again to plant my neos in them. Believe me it is not easy for me. The job Orchidementia did looks really good to me. Just LOVELY.
