Now what to do?

Remember my Noid Phal. that had a spike from the crown and and survived sitting in water for 2 weeks? Then it decided to grow a keiki which was a great relief since it sat there for months doing nothing.

So now as you can see, the keiki is almost ready to be potted up. The problem is one of the roots had grown right into the center crown of the mother plant. What do I do now? Should I just pull or should I cut? Also is the mother plant a goner?

I think I would be inclined to potentially leave the new plant where it is for awhile - maybe indefinately until the mother just fades away on its own. If the crown doesn't come back it could even send up another basal keiki. In the meantime it looks like the current keiki is close enough to the ground to establish itself communally with mom. While attached it can also draw from the strength and vigor of mom's big leaves photosynthesizing.

OK. I'll leave it be and see. I was nervous of taking it off anyway. Thank you for the advice.

I wouldn't do anything at all, just leave it as it is and it will "decide" for itself how it wants to go.
