| Humidity levels for temperature ranges.
I don't mind having very high humidity in the day 80% when it is 85 degrees in my greenhouse, but it gets down to 50 degrees sometimes at night. I left my humidifier on full blast one cold night and one of my cattleya leaves had been sitting right over the mist and it made a little black spot on the leaf. That is not my concern though. I try to get the humidity down to at least 40 percent at night if it is 50 degrees because high humidity and cold temps can make orchids more prone to getting fungal infections.
So, if you please, list a chart, by ten degrees, with the highest levels of humidity that are safe..
This is what I have been working off of. Please tell me if the levels are too high or too low:
40 degrees 30 percent humidity(normally my orchids don't ever live in this much cold, but it is good for the cymbidiums for flowering)
50 degrees, 40 percent
60 degrees, 50 percent
70 degrees, 60 percent
80 degrees, 70-80 percent
85+ 80-90 percent.
Normally my orchids do not get up to 90 degrees, but if they do, I would try to get the humidity up as much as possible. Until the other day when I moved stuff around in my greenhouse, it was never possible to get the humidity up past 40 percent if it was 85 in the greenhouse.
It is pretty easy for me to adjust humidity levels in my little growing space. Of course, I have very good air circulation. Also, I have all kinds of orchids (from cool growing to warm growing) in my area, and the higher temp ones are higher up in the greenhouse where it is often 5-10 degrees warmer (space permitting) and I know that some orchids like higher humidity than others, but I am using these levels as a general guidelines.
