So Glad I Bought This:

So I bought one of those little greenhouses with a few shelves and a clear vinyl cover at Fred Meyer a few years ago, and the more plants I get, the more I like it because I am always changing it around and I love it.

For those of you who have not seen the pics of it on the "growing spaces" page, it is 6' high, 4' wide, and 2' deep. It has 4 shelves that are removable, but not adjustable, however that is fixed with a drill and a bit strong enough to cut through metal.

It is super lightweight, and I can move it all by my little self with no effort. (I am a scrawny, 110lb girl)

I have have taken the bottom shelf off and attatched it vertically to the back of the greenhouse with some velcro tape in order to hang plants there and allow more space. It lends itself easily to hanging lights and I have even found a great way to keep it a nice 85 degrees when it is 98 outside.

Also, since I live in a desert, it keeps the humidity up to 45% (if I am lucky)with a humidifier running full blast all day.

Anyway, my point is that for 75 bux, you can stick a lot of plants in there, and it keeps a great microclimate that is super easy to adjust to different plant's needs. If you have a small collection (from 5 to 50) I would reccommend getting one of these.

Sounds like you got yourself a good set up. Great advice for other geeks that may be looking for something like that. I think I have too many orchids though.

I'm getting a headache trying to get my own g/h going. Someone said an electrician will cost me over a grand! That's too much. I really need to find me a cheaper electrician who won't burn the house down. My husband's suggesting he do it himself. Yikes!!! Last time he blew out the fuse box or something and all the house went pitch dark!!! Scary!!! Hee! Hee! Hee!

Well if you have 150 cymbs, they won't fit, no. But if you have small to med size orchids, you can fit a lot in there if you use vertical as well as horizontal space. I can't wait till I get my 12 new orchids that I ordered today. WHEE. I bought all the ones that I have been wanting and they all smell. I think about half of them are blooming size, too. Awww, I am so stoked!

How exciting. I love waiting for orders. It's so fun. I'm waiting for an order of 39 Epiphyllum clippings off e-bay too. Can't wait.

Don't forget to post pics when you get them. I love scented flowers too.

I love the ordering and I love when the box(es) get here...the waiting part is excruciating for me. It's that old...no patience thing. LOL!!
