most of my stanhopeas I have in bark with no liner. One has a layer of sphagnum moss. the inflorescences can easily make it though the sphag layer.

I've never grown one, so I can't really say. It looks interesting. Any that I've read about, have holes in the container, but it looks like a bottom spike should be able to push through the jungle! Does it hold moisture? Has there been any new growth? Keep us posted!

I have one that I re-potted last year. I used used sphag. moss to line the basket and then filled with bark mix and topped with more moss. I have a new leaf now so I guess it likes it. When I originally got it from SBOE, it was potted up that way so I just copied it.

There is new growth...and lots of new roots. At the time I repotted, I did not have anything smaller....I worried the liner would be too heavy so that is why I atttempted to thin it out. Now I am questioning my use of it. thanks for the input.
