| Help! Hello all, I just recently bought a Red Oncidium Orchid from the farmer's market a few weeks ago. I have been watering it 2x/week. I don't know why but all of the flowers have dried up and died and the leaves have been falling off! I'm wondering if it is dead or just too hot? Please help! |

| Hi and welcome to the forum. You could be overwatering the plant causing root rot; but that may not be the case if the potting media is very well draining. You should examine the roots and if they are brown and mushy then you will have to cut back all the roots that are rotting. If you have anything left in the way of healthy roots there is a chance that the plant might be saved. If the roots are white or green then you have some other trouble. Please let us know the result of the root inpection. Bill |

| I found that my oncidiums needed water twice a week. But I grew in bark with lots of perlite for drainage, in a sunny west window. It would be helpful to learn what type of medium the plant is in and what type of light the plant is getting, and yes, as celcat mentioned, where the poster is located. |

| spinalicat, Go ot the Orchid care section of this forum or ot AOS | Home and get a culture sheet on Oncidium. This will tell you how things like what temperatures your orchid needs, how much light, water, humitidy, etc., etc. Give it a read and let us know if you have any questions.
