Maxillaria tenuifolia

When is a good time to repot this, and what's a good medium for it. I've had it since last summer.

I've repotted mine a couple times, at different times of the year: once in summer, and once in late winter. For mine, I don't think it really matters: it's so big and has so many roots that it would take a LOT to set it back. If it has already flowered this year, might be a good time. Mine flowered a couple months ago.
I pot mine in a mix of coconut coir chips and fir bark. I think it really likes the added moisture from the coir. It's been in there since the last repot (February about), and it is growing like crazy.

Thanks snowball, it hasn't bloomed this year, but it's very small, it has new growth, but is growing slowly, I have the coir in a chunk not chips, will that be OK?

I had mine in bark and it did not do well. I lost half the plant before I moved the rest into sphag moss where it seems much happier. I have subsequently bought another division which is also doing well in sphag.

Thank you, so I guess that must mean it likes it a little moister.

What do you mean by chunk? Do you break it up and then rinse and soak it in water and it expands? If so, that's what I use. Just left that part out. And I agree with dipasquo: in just plain bark, it wasn't getting quite enough moistness. Though I also have one that is mounted and is doing fine; I water it nearly every day.

Yes that's what I did, broke 1/2 off and soaked it, now I'm ready to repot with it.
