Spike or New Growth?

Hi all,
My Grammatopyllum elegans has produced a mature leafed new growth and when watering I noticed this growth at its base. I have never seen an emerging Gramm spike so am wondering if this is infact a spike or another growth? It happened right as the growth seems to have matured its pseudobulb. It has three leafless bulbs and these two leafed ones...

elitebettas, Where do Gramataphyllum spikes come from? This will tell you if you have a spike or a new growth. If, for example, Gram. spikes come form the end of a cane instead of the base, then you'll know this is not a spike. Do a little homework and let us know what you find.

Grammatophyllum elegans spikes arise from the base of a mature psuedobulb, as do new growths. So my speculation arises from the growth coming from the base. It may be tantamount to cymbidium spikes which look similar to a new growth at first but as the spike matures, this initial growth turns out to be semi leafy coverings on the spike where the buds develop underneath. I've done homework, but haven't found an answer, hence the reason why I decided to post-thought it would be interesting since, on many occassions I've browsed the forum to find similar postings. I'm leaning towards new growth. What about you?
Regards
Chris

I don't know but looks good anyway. I'll hope that it's a spike for you. Post an updated pic. as it grows in. Love to see what it is for sure.

hmm, It might very well be a new growth, because it is coming out of the leaf crotch and not the very base of the pseduobulb....time will tell

I'm clearly not an expert, but my guess is that it is a new leaf forming. I hope I'm wrong, though. But new growth is good too...

I think it may be new growth, just from the appearance of it. I've never grown these myself. Either way, it looks really healthy, so if this isn't a spike, it should be great when one does come in! I hope I'm wrong, too!
