cambria-oncidium dying?

Hello,
my cambria looks unhealthy.
She has two bulbs, which are shrinked and they look dehydrated.
I have to confess that in Athens (Greece) the humidity is really low, do u think the shrinking is a result of dehydration or it's sth else?
And the leaves from the bulb are falling off, they get yellow and then they fall.
Thank u in advance for reading my question.
Vasso

Are all the bulbs dehydrating? This can be normal in older bulbs. If the latest bulb is shriveling, you need to check the roots. If it is in a plastic pot, you can flex the pot to free the rootsfrom the pot and pull the plant out. Oncidium roots are fine and just looking will probably not be good enough. You will have to gentley pinch them to see if they are firm or hollow. You need to find at least some good roots. They don't all have to be good, but it may be that all are bad, which would be a result of over watering. Let us know what you find. Also, do you have new growths starting and at what stage (length) are they? Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

The new growth should be putting out new roots. You want to be sure that these don't rot. If it looks like it has already put out a lot of roots and they are rotted, you will need to use rooting hormone on the new growth. My observation is that rooting hormone only works on new growths. Cynthia
