I have the following orchid and need to list it. Was wondering if this is the correct spelling & correct order for this plant

What do you mean "list" it? Do you just want someone to check to see if the name is correct? If so you could try doing that yourself by using the RHS database of registered hybrids.

Hummer I could not find any orchid grex in any genus with the sequence of letters "shiek" in the name. It wouldn't be the first time I overlooked something, but it isn't obvious to me what it might be this time. Just don't know........

I checked Orchid Wiz and there is no Lc with the name Amad in it nor Lc with Shiek in the name. OrchidWiz is forgiving of less than a full name.

Since you could not find it in RHS it appears not to be a registered name.

I think I found a listing for your orchid.

There were a number of challenges with the search. Jerry if you were searching using the intergeneric name Laeliocattleya (Lc) you were setting yourself up for failure because the Laelia parent is one that was changed to Sophronitis, so this plant is now a Sophrocattleya (Sc) not an Lc.

Second challenge was that the name was horribly misspelled. I fudged around with about 5 different spellings of "Amad" before finding it, and as for "Sheik"....well when you see the real name you'll see there wasn't a chance.

Anyway, I believe your plant is: Sophrocattleya Ahmad Sheikhi 'Mendenhall'

Thanks. I did find the orchid listed on a sellers site but the seller has it spelled wrong also. I got the spelling from the original tag so that was wrong too.
thanks for the corrections.

Yeah, I could have found it on OrchidWiz as a cultivar name only in any genus, but I looked for the sequence s-h-i-e-k rather than sheik.
