My Prosthechea Green Hornet

My Prosthechea Green Hornet is still putting on a nice show! It's very fragrant now, also. (I couldn't smell anything when it first opened!)

Patti, you make it look so easy. What an impressive plant. At what time of day is it the most fragrant? Congratulations on doing such a great job!

I thought there were just a few blooms at a time too. At least the ones I saw on sale only had a few. That is a beautiful healthy plant you have there. Great growing! What does the scent smell like?

Thanks, all! The plant just keeps putting out more blooms! It's a bloomin' factory! The scent is strongest in the morning, I think. Its a spicy-floral scent. I love it. When the first few opened up, I couldn't smell anything. Now it's heavenly! Yay!

Looks like it is growing well for you, easy to flower and fragrant are certainly plusses, but somehow the flowers just ... I don't know, yours looks good though. I have been trying to talk myself into wanting one of these.

Good morning to all. That's very beautiful Patti. My friends and I see a few of those when we go into the swamps in the everglades down here. Mainly there cause we are looking for ghost orchids. We call them clamshell orchids, their common name.Yours looks amazing.Congratulations.
BTW..where did you get it? and was it small or blooming size.Would I have to wait long for a bloom?I'd like to buy one and avoid temptations of taking one

Yes, please don't remove them from the wild
I bought mine from Oak Hill Gardens.

Oak Hill Gardens

I bought it blooming size. It started opening several weeks ago, and it keeps going! I don't remember what the price was, but it was reasonable. It was still labeled Encyclia Green Hornet when I got it from them. Good luck! I sure wish I could check out the swamps!

Well If you're ever in town. I'd be happy to guide you in,or anyone else who is interested.
I thought it was chochleatum but its actually a hybrid of it with lancifolium, perhaps yours will be more fragrant and bloom more often.
I found someone local that has them. R.F.Orchids they specialize in Vandas so I never thought to ask them.
BTW. I only take pics of the wild I remove nothing except maybe some garbage left behind by others

If I were able to stay on my feet and walk for several hours, I'd take you up on that. Its not THAT long of a trip down to Miami.

Well several hours is not requiered, although it would be great. In just one hour you would see quite a bit. There are different trails, some easy some difficult, all great in their own way.
P.S. It's 70 miles west of Miami. Not far from you at all.

Glorious-looking bloom, Patti! It's also on my wish list. So many orchids, so little money. Oh, the temptation on this forum!
