| Looks like buds to me!!!!!!!!!! Hi there! It looks like my Dendrobium superbum (anosmum) is going to bloom, doesn't it???? Pleeeeease tell me this look like little buds.....It's my mom's favorite.... I'll wait fou you guys to tell me.... Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| They look like buds to me. Unless the photo is upside down, keiki's don't grow downward on most Dendrobiums. This is a species anosum so they may, but the flower also point down. I think they're buds.

| I hate to be discouraging but it is several months late for anosnum to bloom. They are an early spring flower. Species orchids usually do not vary much in blooming times. My wholesalers offered flowering plants in Februrary and had none flowering for sale in March. Mine are finished blooming and growing keiki down like the photo. You will know soon if roots develop. My keiki are 3/4 inch and the roots are already over one inch. Especially, if it is a fresh cutting it is unlikely to have the strength to bloom. Another point is only one flower is produced on each node and you look like you have two growths coming. White is a very scarce color and well worth waiting. I hope I am wrong and you are rewarded with flowers, still Februray is not that far away. Normally they will put out new growth from the base and it will grow to 12-20 inches. They lose all their leaves before flowering. They are a deciduopous Dendrobium. It is common for the canes to fall over and hang down. For some reason creases in the cane where they bend is not a problem.

| Hi , Jerry thanks for the tips, don't worry about being discouraging, I'm here to learn from you all!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really read they are spring bloomers...But since I'm growing in Brazil, we are in the middle of winter, while for you there in Florida I guess it's...summer now? Our springs begins just in august, so maybe there is still time!! There are no new growths at the base, neither new roots... ![]() What do you think? thanks everyone!!!!!!!! | I missed that you are in Brazil. I usually look. You would be just a couple of months early so even if these are not buds, you may still have flowers. If flowering had finished you would probably see new growth at the base. I am curious how the grower made the 'cut'. I have never tried cutting a peice of one. Did he cut a cane or did he divide a larger plant?

| Hi, Jerry Actually, I believe it's a division or an already developed keiki, I guess I said it the wrong way, here we say "a cut", but in english looks like they cut the cane off, hehehehehhe.... Here's a picture of the hole plant, the pic is not very good, but you can almost see the little old canes on the top of the pot, I guess there's 2 of them... Anyway, it looks like good news...If they are keikis, I'll have a lot of them to repot!!!!! ![]() Thanks everyone!!!! |

| B KIM, Maybe I'll try the basket too, maybe I'll make a little basket filled with keiki, .....Hope not!!!!!! I'd rather have some flowers............ If you hang yours upside down, please show us how it's going!!!!!!!! |
