Tolumnia Genting Volcano

I just received this in the mail today from Hausermann's. It's gorgeous, and just starting to bloom!

That is gorgeous. I just love the colors on it. I'm putting that on my next buying list. Thanks.

Very nice pickup. I have to ask, how in the world do they package that up with a spike that long?

I can't get over the length of that spike!! And what a beautiful color blend--kind of like a sunset. Are you going to mount that baby? I only have seven or eight Tolumnia, but am starting to them. I need to get a few more. Does Hausermann's have a good selection?
Jerry, if you are out there, do you have any more?

Jay, he packed it in a box so big I thought it was a computer! He packed the pot with confetti and masking tape and rolled the entire plant up in a full sheet of newspaper, carefully folding over the ends. And then he packed the 24x36 in. box with a ton of newspaper.

Oh I have had my eye on a couple of those from Hauserman's. They are adorable. How was the price of the shipping?

I thought shipping was quite reasonable, brookn. $7.50

That's not too bad. I have certainly paid more . Maybe the budget can squeeze one or two in soon. I need an orchid fix lol.

I am curious about the shipping since volumne shipping kicks in at 1 cubic foot. A 24x36 box would have to be less than 2 inches high not to reach the volumne price of around $35.

I keep a very close control on shipping and Fed Ex UPS and USPS all charge volume charges over 1 cubic foot.

If there is a cheaper way to ship I would like to know it.

Patti,

The two with the black background are the plant as I received it. I have a new bud opening every day and I'll post a picture when the bloom is complete. I included a photo from an ad to show full bloom, mostly because I can't wait for mine to look like that! By the way, I was very pleased with Hausermann's.

Beautiful sunset-y colors! That's on my wish list. Hope to find one in the near future.

janet-a -- Yes. They are equitant oncidiums. Name changed (Oncidium -> Tolumnia) about a year ago or so.

(Great minds think alike) I just bought one recently at a local greenhouse - they have a lot more but the Volcano was the color I liked best. They are gorgeous little things!

How pretty! I have one in spike right now... I can't wait.

John, I agree with you on Hausermans. They're great! The folks at Oak Hill started out working for them! I got my first Neo from Hausermans, my Bc Binosa 'Wabash Valley', and my Myrmecophila thomsoniana. I was very pleased with them!

I'm looking forward to seeing your Tolumnia in all it's glory!
