Tangelo Globe?

Hi,
I had this orchid a few years ago but now I have forgotten its alliance and care. A friend was given one and asked me how to care for it. Since I killed mine I thought it best to ask the experts. Any information would be apprecited.

Its a reed-stem epidendrum. The like high light and catt conditions. They bloom off the end of the stem.

I had a couple of those before but killed them cause I left them outdoors. Are they outdoor orchids or not?

Epidendrums can be grown outdoors, but must be moved in or under a covering when winter comes. Cold weather + water (or frost) = rot/death.

Thanks Arlene. Seems I've killed more orchids that way. I use to leave them all outside. Just didn't know any better. Maybe I'll try them again.

All orchids are outdoor orchids in the part of the world they come from. The important question is what culture do they require? Look at the conditions an orchid needs and see if they match the conditions you have outdoors. If they do...well then there you go, you could give it a try outdoors.

Yeah, now I know better. The thing was when I bought a bunch of orchids from SOBE they said they can be grown with the Cyms. outdoors. I did exactly that and they all pretty much died that winter. Live and learn.
