Double Keiki?!

This Cadetia taylorii put out a keiki about 18 months ago. The other day I looked at it in disbelief as it appears to be putting out a second keiki from the same part of the plant! A picture of the first and still existing keiki can be seen in this thread:

Keikis are new plants, so just as a plant grows new growths, it stands to reason that a keiki will also grow new growths. It appears this is exactly what your's is doing. It must be healthy.

Ha! I wish the papa plant would put out more new growth from the base too! Actually it is putting up one new growth from the base, in addition to this keiki-growth, but that will only make up for one leaf that recently dropped. Oh, well, patience... I suppose.

The new growth on the keiki seems to have stalled and I notice that the leaf on the keiki and the stem and leaf of the growth that the keiki is attached to have begun to wrinkle. I wonder if the parent stem is on the wane and if it might be time to cut the keiki and give it a chance to grow on its own. The keiki is almost 2 years old and has a good number of root, hopefully giving it a good chance to survive on its own. Opinions?

It's possible. Do you think the keiki has enough of a root system to survive?

They are tiny, but there are about a dozen roots off the keiki. I think I'm taking a chance either way, since the parent part of the plant appears that it won't be able to support the keiki for much longer. I think it's worth the risk because I'll lose it otherwise.
