| Lalia Ansceps on a stick
I have a mounted Lalia Ansceps that is about 5 years old. It has one section that is growing a bit away from the origianl mount. I could mount this section and have another plant. The question is, what is the best way to take this section. 1. cut it away from the mother plant and mount it or 2. mount it in tandam with the mother plant and when its established on the new mount, cut it away from the mother plant. The plant has other new growth so taking off a branch wouldn't inhibit the original plant. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It is not currently blooming but thought I would attach a picture.

Hi Hummer344, I could see both ways working. But if the "mounting in tandem", would get too bulky, or might cause the original plant to get pulled off it's mount or would risk braking the plant at some point you don't want because it's mount fell or was bumped or dropped then the better way might be to just take the piece you want to separate off to start. By the way, it is a very pretty little thing. |

I would opt for separating it now. If you wanted to later, it would already be established on the mount and could be damaged by trying to remove it. Unless you want it to stay on the present mount, I would move it now...Just a suggestion. Beautiful bloom, by the way
