| You mean like this? I use it for my seedlings. It has two 24 inch T5 bulbs, a tray of water with a fan blowing on it lightly. It keeps a constant humidity around 80-85%. |

| Jay thats a cool set up. Where'd you get it?

| They have them at WM for $29.99 here.

They take on the form of little birds, of lizards, of insects, a man, a woman, sometimes like a clown who excites our laughter. They represent the image of a lazy tortoise, a melancholy toad, an agile, ever-chattering monkey. Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius |

| My husband picked up a mini-greenhouse at DrugMart for $25.00 (Can't post pictures tonight--got a meeting to attend) that I absolutely love. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. It has the peaked roof for taller plants and a plastic cover with zippers so you can pick the amount of protection you need. The three shelves have room for about twelve medium size orchidsThe nights have been going down into the mid-fifties and are supposed to do that all week. I was thinking of bringing my chids back inside, but they seem to be doing so well outside. My Tolumnia have new spikes and everybody else is such a vibrant green! We set up our mini-gh on the front porch and now everybody's happy ![]()

| I got one for $25 at the home improvement store. It worked great last winter indoors and the zippered cover helped to keep the babies a bit warmer. Just have to add an additional fan this year. Lights are easy to attach. I also have some 2ft shop lights that fit in it great. Patlee: I'm with you. I may put my little greenhouse out on the patio instead of playing hop-scotch "in & out" of the house. The only problem I have is securing it from the wind. Remember, I live near the "Windy City." |

| Sharyn, Someone on here posted about the problems they were having with windblown orchids. Our front porch is by a VERY windy corner and I can just see some gusts turning the mini GH and its plastic covering into a big balloon(yeah, it's probably paranoia run amuck). So I think I will give the bungee cords a try--I just love the tips from members of this forum

| I have one that is VERY similar to the one in the posted pic. It is something like 48" wide, 6' tall, and 18" deep. Right now I have my orchids, a humidifier, a little fan, a gardenia, and a fish tank light, and another 24" flourescent light that I attached to the top supports with twist ties. Also, you can just set the light right on the wire shelf for the orchids in the second shelf. It is really nice to have. I use it indoors in the winter and this is the first year I have put my orchids outside since I lived in Hawaii. Our summers are up to 100 here, and most days are 90, then in the winter it gets down to -20 sometimes. I hate it. I don't know how I am going to keep my plants from totally roasting. Maybe I can put a little AC in there as well. hehe |

| Pat: Thanks. I forgot about that bungee cord trick. missann: On the really warm days, I remove the cover. I too have roasted a few plants. You can also try keeping the door unzipped and reposition them to the sides with some elastic waistband cord. You can get some cheap 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch cord for about a $1 at the fabric stores. Cut a piece or two long enough to fit around the GH and tie in place. This will keep the doors from flapping shut on very warm days and allows more air circulation. Mine is on the patio so I can plug in a fan on the really oppressive still days. |

| I almost bought one of those a few weeks ago. Here they are on sale a few different places because they are not going to carry them anymore. There is a huge one for $169.00 at a garden store too. But, I don't think it would work very well for my summer conditions in the house.

| This types are pretty expensive but I had found some great pictures of them in one of my books that were huge! You might be able to make one for a lot cheaper. put in some built in fans and and a source of humidity, lights, and save some money! I have seen some pictures of one made with Exo Terra tanks that have glass doors that were nice and home made. Took The Exo Terra Plunge Too! - Orchid Board - Most Complete Orchid Forum on the web !, of course you can make them ncer than this one! I also found this one day:http://www.usbg.gov/education/events...Terrariums.pdf and here is another one: The Orchid Source Forum: "Orchidarium" knowledge base and this one: orchidarium.com
