Masdevallia questions

I am wondering how big Masdies get. I have a Celtic Frost, and it is small now, but will it stay small?
I also have a colossus x bonplandii coming and I know that it will be big, but how big?
I am also considering a Copper Angel, same question...size.

I have looked on line but can't seem to find any information about the size of these plants.

Any help you can give would be great.

Thanks very much!

If your masde is blooming size, it won't get taller but they "spread" very quickly. My plants almost triple in size each year.

I don't think they get very big, there is someone here that grows a lot of them, I think it might be jbigio. I know some of the other members would probably be able to tell you more than "I don't think they get very big", lol! All of the ones that I have seen have been pretty small.

The size rang for Masdevallias would depend on if you are talking about height or width. Height is between 1.5 to 2 inches for say Masdevallia Tinker Belles to about a foot tall for Masdevallia ayabacana and Masdevallia colossus and most of its crosses. As for how wide; they will keep growing as long as their happy. But the one of the nice things about Masdevallias is that a plants can bloom at almost any size even juveniles will through a spike or two. So they actually are in my opinion some of the most satisfying orchids to grow. They do need a constant airflow low to mid range temps say 65 to 78 degress and to be moist but not soggy. If they are over watered or over potted they will shed leaves like mad (I learned this the hard way). I have about 135 Masdevallias in my personel collection and another 140 or so divisions that are for sale. I’m not quite sure how I ended up with growing these over other orchids but I’m glade.
