| Great job repotting! It looks terrific! The orchid looks pretty sweet, too. Congratulations on the new one!

| The roots look pretty good to me. The moss mound looks good too. The first one I got from e-bay had almost no roots when it arrived but now they are growing in nicely. Can't wait to see the next one.

| Thanks for the good comments on the roots. I was a little worried about it. Patti, I got it from Heavenly Orchids. It was very inexpensive compared to what I have been spending on the Neos! My Shu Ten Nou should be here next week, it will come in a regular clay pot, I will try the mound again.

| April~ That plant looks like it went through the mill! The roots are not up to par and it looks to have some bug (mite) damage. I would definitely get a hold of the vendor and say something to them about it to let them know the conditions of the plant in case it turns for the worst. Please do an update on this.

| I'm not a Neo expert, but Jenny is and I agree with her. The thing that bothers me is the darkened area by the crown. Maybe I just couldn't tell from the pics, but it looks like it could potentially be a rot problem. )BTW, you did a terrific job on that mound --my Neo is still in the same pot it was shipped to me in. (though I plan on mounting it)

| I see the black that Patlee is talking about. I but I couldn't tell from the pic if that's the natural "inking" or if it is indeed potential onset rot. A better pic would be great.

| I have already talked to the vendor about it. I still want to try it. It looks like it has new roots growing on very close inspection. I will try to get a very close picture. I am watching the center section. I think it is the "inking" as it is not soft and the leaves do not pull away from the center. I have mixed up some of Brooke's recipe and have sprayed it and will be on the watch for any problems. I should know soon if it is not going to do well. I will keep the vendor informed.

| The little tiny red nubs could be new roots starting. Though the center on close up looks like it might be rot. It is not mushy. I have emailed the vendor pictures and requested a new plant. We will see. It would be nice if this one could turn around. It still has some green roots so.... I will keep updated. Hopefully I will hear from the vendor tomorrow. He responded very quickly the first time.

| Well, it looks a little abused, but I think you can save it. If it's rot it will bubble when peroxide is used, the peroxide will help clear it up, and if it's not it won't hurt it a bit. Mine had much worse rotten icky roots when I got it, and a lot less when I repotted it. I will say that if all else fails, the Bayer fixed mine up, but it came with a price.

| Neos are tough little suckers (fortunately). Samurai used to take them along with them when going to battle and the nobles adorned horse drawn carts with blooming Neos for the fragrance. I think yours will be fine! |

| I'm not an expert by any means, but I know what mine looked like when I bought it and what it looks like now ... mine is healthy, growing and blooming but looks like it lost a lot of fights! Yours looks a lot better. Of course, if you paid for a plant in better condition, that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish! ...now if you need to find yours another home, I think I can find room ...

| Thank you all! It is so great to have support from all of you. Actually, I did not pay a lot for this one. But I was not expecting it to look so battle worn! I did the peroxide on the black area, NO Bubbles! I have been feeding it worm tea and I think it looks a little better this morning. It does look like it went through the ringer though! I want to keep it as I am curious to see how those red nubs grow out. Thank again from all, I was feeling sad, especially after loosing my Sogo Grape to crown rot. I will keep updated.

| those little red nubs are new root growths. When I repotted mine some of the root tips dried out. But I think since it has finally gotten adjusted to the environment those roots have new growths coming out and the ones that didn't dry out look even better than they did when I bought it from a g/h. You did a really good job repotting it. I am sure once it adjusts to the environment you have a lot of new root growths. Mine also had some leaf damages from insects but all the new growths look great. I took a while for mine to adjust because I repotted in spahg after a few weeks of having it. Once it gets adjusted it'll probably do really well and grow lots of roots!

| Kortney thanks very much for the information. I wonder why the root nubs are red if the root doesn't have a red tip? A couple of the nubs are rounded like a start of a root, and then there are two that are pointed like maybe new growth? Keeping my fingers crossed. This one is not as "pretty" looking as my other two. I think I will call him "Scar" LOL! Hopefully my Shutennou will look good, I got that from another vendor in Hawaii. Should be here next week sometime. Thanks again, I love all the support and encouragement from all the geeks!!

| I dunno, some of my root tips are green, but most of them are pink/purple/or red. I just have a neo falcata. I noticed the roots that had tips when I bought it were green, but the ones that made are now red/pink/ or purple and bigger. They are very soft I acidently scratched one of the tips and it some of wiped off. It's like they have a coating on them or something. When they are wet tips they are lighter colored and the membranes becomes softer. When they are dry they look darker.
