Patti, it's nice to know how happy you are with this plant...I know the feeling.

So far, mine is still blooming it's little head off, 3 flowers already spent, have had a tremendous amount, all at once, bunch of growths...and they grow fast! I'm keeping this in the brightest light my patio will let in and that's only for about 4 hours a day so I think I'm going to need supplementals to get this to grow and bloom to it's full potential for next year. We shall see.

The petals on mine are fatter/fuller than on yours. It has to do with one of the crosses, dominating...Prosthechea cochleata and Encyclia trulla

Anyway, have a look and please keep postng it's progress.

Enjoy!

Too funny. Wish the plants understood what you are saying. I would say tell them to bloom their butts off and multiply! Hee! Hee! Hee!

Love the new Enc. by the way!

Several of my Encyclia cochleata (they should look like your Green Hornet) have what appear to be flower sheaths... but they're not progressing (probably due to inconsistent care on my part!). Maybe I'll try moving one to a brighter location to see if that helps! Do the flowers have a scent? I read that some of these types of flowers have a citrusy scent.

This guy does seem to like the light.... I haven't noticed a scent, yet. There is a lot of "dew" coming from it, however! Since there are only 2 blooms open so far it's hard to tell.

Mine has a scent, I'm not quite sure how to explain it other than, very sweet licorice.

OOOO... I'll have to sniff it again! Maybe I need more open than the 2 I have so far. Sandra, Is it stronger at any particular time of day? I know that my Milt. is very strong in the morning, but not in the evening.

Patti, mornings and afternoons, although the scent is now waning. All I can say is that once it started blooming, the more blooms, the heavier the scent became....heavenly.

You're in for a treat!!!

Thanks, Sandra- You're the best! I went in the dining room, where it is, and gave a good sniff! The one that was open the longest, had a slight scent of carnations! The other one had nothing! I think that they just need a little more time...
Thank you for your responses.- I just found out that my sisters' father-in-law passed away. I've known him since I was 10. There have been so many deaths recently- I think 11 or 12 wakes in the last 2 months...
Sorry, I need to go look at my chids...
