New Neo!

I just got my Neofinetia falcata x Darwinara Charm. It is soooo cute, and blooming!

I love it and the way it looks. I am hoping to get some more...uh oh...obsession starting!!!!

I liked the pot so much that I thought I would repot my Sedirea. I had a bonsai pot (from my try at bonsai, years ago ) and I put it in that with some sphag.
I hope the Sedirea likes it, it really looks cute!

What do you think?

Really nice neo's April. Like what you've done with the Sedirea also.

Did these come from Cal Orchids, by chance?

Sandra

I got it from a seller on ebay. Not a store. I really love it! Thanks!

April, looks like there's more blooms to come with all those buds. Must smell gooood.

I just realized they naturally have the darker pigmentation on the base of the fans. I thought mine was sick because of that coloring.

Mine has that coloring on at the base of the fan too! I love that bonsai pot! I was looking at some today but they were all too shallow for what I needed it for. Those flowers look so pretty! Any plans for your next neo yet? LOL!! Hey we now have a huge neo fan club (and every other orchid)!

Those are very nice! I almost bought some of those off ebay myself. Solay, the darker pigments on the fan are from high light. That is how they used to get the ink from the Neos, by growing them in high light. Actually Jenny and I were talking about this, I think that you get bigger plants this way faster, and they bloom great, but the preference (supposedly) is to try to get the light high, but not too high, to keep from getting the inky look. Mine that is spiking is in Phal light, that's why I was shocked that it sent out a spike, I thought the light was way too low. I think they look good no matter what though, but I am biased.

Yeah, Jenny did mention that about the ink. I thought it was not the light cause a couple leaves fell off too. Now it is growing new roots so I think it's OK.

I know I want more Neos. Pink first and one day a yellow.

I have a water jug I put my change into every day. After a year I get around a thousand dollars in change that I use for spending on vacation in January in the Philippines. I think I might have to change that to my orchid fund instead.

Brookn, I think I will wait a bit until my husband ain't looking. Hee! Hee! By the way, I like the quote you got there. Just read it. I'm a little slow. Geesh! Guess the different colored writing threw me off.

Let see. I think Jenny was on a day ago. Hummm....?

Thanks! Yes, we do have a Neo fan club going!! I am bidding on more, hopefully I can win some. Kortney, I am not sure which one I want next, I like the look of them all.

That is interesing about the red pigment, I read something about it but didn't know that much. I hope I can get more than just the one and will try them in different light to see how they do.

This one is in a Southern window, but it is a cross (Darwinara Charm) and I think it can take more light.

Solay, the smell is wonderful! It smells very strong in the evening, not so much in the day.

I want more!!!!

I heard from Jenny yesterday. Hope everything is OK.

I'm here!!! I'm alive! I've been cleaning! YUK!!!

I could only sneak on here a couple times yesterday. Just long enough to check the PMs and see about a couple of orchids that I'm getting. (I'm super bad,,,I know.) Solay, I too want a yellow Neo, but first must replace the one's I lost,,,(which I did).

As for the inking...The lighting is suppose to be at a medium level. 1500 to 3000 foot candles. (Some, not all, do take lower light levels.) If you notice the blotching, then you need to back it from the light. I just keep mine with my Phals and give it the same conditions as I do with them.

Yes Jenny I did, but it was a struggle! I must have bid on every single one that Satomi had for auction! Got outbid on every one. I even tried for a couple of different Sedirea but did not get those either.

I did win two of the clay Neo pots, and I got a Neo book and the plant I got is:

Kutsuwamushi, it has pink flowers (not in bloom yet). I am happy I got one. My husband went crazy with the price that I paid, and said that I have to be done buying.

I will wait a while, cause I would like another Neo, so I will save up for one.

Did you get any?

I just got the Gekkeikan and a book too. It won't be sent out until Monday, due to Satomi having that show this weekend.

Mine will also be sent out on Monday.

I looked up a picture of yours, very pretty. I wish I could have gotten one with the varigated leaves.

There are so many interesting varieties, I will just have to save up for one. I really would like the one with the pink flowers with the red stem.

Can't wait!!!
