| In order for you guys to get a better idea on what I mean here are some pics. I am using just Alifor nothing else. I am using two kinds of pots/dishes. One type uses an open dish where you can see the water. The other uses a attached, closed dish (far right Phal)where you cannot see the water but would probably keep the water around longer (slower evaporation). Which one do you think is better? I like the fact I can see the amount of water ...giving me a idea of how much water would be needed.

| I think I might take them out...reason being is because semi-hydro seems to be for plants under a controlled environment. Today there is an overcast and some heavy rain clouds here and there. If it were to rain wouldn't the plants be drenched?

| I don't think rain would matter because the holes in the pot would not allow the water to raise too high. I am new to semi-hydro, but according to Jay's directions I water from the top to wet the top pebbles anyway.
