Loss data... could use a hand with ID

No one to blame but myself. I misplaced the data of this plant. It is a catt, and I'm pretty sure a well known one. Hopefully I'll recognize the correct name from any suggestions. It may be a species. Nice looking blooms regardless. And another clue is the are about 7 blooms on the stalk.

cheers!

Is there a prize involved in getting it right? Say, perhaps, like the orchid question?

Reward... hmmm. Surely we could figure something out. My first thought runs to a nice Cadbury Fruit and Nut Chocolate Bar. Easily obtainable most anywhere and as good as any mass produce chocolate on the market. I'm not including all the fancy shmancy expensive stuff. Another thought would be to hold a mustache to your lip (a dirty toothbrush will suffice), look in a mirror and give yourself a nice pat on the back. Use your imagination and pretend that is me.

Your turn...

Here are a couple of more pics. One with more of the plant, and another of the flower oriented properly and not quite so overexposed. Hard to do as the petals are such a bright white.

Sorry I can't help with the ID. I just think it's beautiful though.

I did as you suggested, looked in the mirror and this is what I saw looking back at me....

Did I win? Still haven't a clue what the name of your orchid is though, sorry.

You've got yourself one heck of a mirror there, sister!

And it is a very nice flower. The delicate texture and brilliant white give cause for a very pleasant gaze. Even without the name.

What I'll do if we can't figure this out is, well, we'll just give it a nickname. Something shorter than "That's the one I lost the tag because I fiddled around too long before recording it and cleaned house in the meanwhile and the tag is now in a landfill in eastern Washington". Yea, we can do better.

I can't help but think of two orchids. Cattleya intermedia coerulea, and Laelia purpurata werkhouseri (sp?). But neither is perfect, so how about the hybrid of the 2: LC schileriana coerulea?

You got me thinking with that suggestion, Cynthia. Schileriana was was/is a name that's just there in the back on my mind. I think I did get one. I also saw a picture of a C.warscewiczii v.coerulea 'La mer', but the petal shape of my flower more closely looks like the schileriana. I've the laelia you mention, but not in bloom.

Also saw a pic in Jay's orchidspecies.com site,
cattleya × silvana Pabst 1976 var semi-alba. It looks real close, tho I know I haven't purchased anything by that name.

As I finish this note, I am noticing that about any bloom with white and/or purple looks similar. Time to call it a night!

I don't know nearly enough about catts to hazard a guess - I'm just good at coming up with prizes! That's a truly lovely flower and it's inspired me to read up on them to see if I try growing them.
