My Phal. does the splits?

I have a white Phal.(NOID) that just dropped it's last bloom. Now I'm noticing that all the leaves are splitting or had a seam down the middle that wants to split. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong?

Are you sure that leaf in the middle pic didn't get some physical trauma? Overall I don't see anything that would get me too excited. Let us know if anything signficantly progresses.

I agree with Mike it looks like trauma on the one, the other, sometimes they just do that. I have one that has a leaf like that right now, no idea why it did it. Maybe it just grew too fast????

I wonder if someone knocked it down while I wasn't looking. Well that's a relief. Hope that was all. Maybe the leaves got smashed and folded? Thanks.

Solay, I have a Phal that's doing that too! I bought it from a scratch & dent table. It was in bad shape when I got it. It's just now starting to show new growth, but about a month after I rescued it, one of the leaves just split! It doesn't look very nice, but the plant still appears to be healthy.
I hope someone can explain why, I don't want a repeat performance!

Solay, Guess all of us are coming out of the woodwork. This must be a fairly common thing in that so many of us have it happening. I have a split leaf, too. For some unknown reason, my oldest phal (which is also branched and has about fifteen huge, white, flowers) suddenly developed a split. I don't think it was physically damaged. I almost think Brookn is on the right track...judging from the looks of your plant and the health of mine, it's almost like they grew too fast

Same thing here as well... on only 1 of my 20 or so Phals. The one with the splits is Dtps. Lauren Lee. Other than the splits it is a mightily healthy plant.

i get the occasional split; doesn't seem to bother the plant. i wonder if it's a case of the plant growing so fast the connective tissue can't keep up...?

Along with mechanical damage, which is very well what could have happened here,
a Phals leaves will split if it's not getting sufficient humidity. I have gotten a couple
of Phals from a local food line store 2 years ago and the majority of the leaves were
split. I also got one from WalMart with the same condition. It is sometimes difficult
to give them the needed humidity in places like this. All of the new leaves grew without
any splits on them in my growing area.

So more misting should help? I don't have new leaves yet so I can't tell if they will split too. Seems to be only split when the leaves are mature and older. I already added moss around the base of the plant for more moisture.

Out of my 20 phals, the only one that has ever split on the tips is the Dpts. Each leaf is about 8-10 inches long. The split on two of the leaves is about an inch to an inch and one-half from the tip in the center crease. Doesn't seem to have any effect on the growth of the plant.

Solay, yours may have had a slight split at the tip and then became damaged from some other means. I wouldn't worry about it. Mine are misted a couple times a week and I keep the humidity min. of 50% and I still have some splits on this one. That's the best I can do and this plant keeps blooming and blooming with no problem. So, she's gotta' few cracks - don't we all?

I have one Phal and one Catt that has split. I assumed it was due to mechanical damage between my cat and me taking them down to soak.
