Can this baby survived ?

My Catt was doing fine before I made a stupid mistake to pull a dried off flower
stem. After two flowers died I cut off but left two ugly dried black stem on.
I tried to pulled these stems off but left a wound without knowing.

I even dusted off cinnamon on areas but one wound rot and die back.
I then cut off the leaf http://www.orchidgeeks.com/forum/ima...lies/frown.gif

I hope it can make it.

It will be o.k.- Just keep the plant in normal condititions for a while. It will heal, and eventually, new growth will appear! Be patient!

You might lose a pseudobulb at most but not the whole plant. patience will bring new growth.

Exacto knife and a steady hand if you have to remove it all or close to it. I usually just trim it down after its dried up on its own to 1/4" to 1/2" long, then I'll let time tell when its going to come off.

Exacto knife's are easier to use than a razor blade. Razor blades are sometimes too long and knick other parts of the plant when trying to remove something. ( I have done this several times:-( )

Yes. Heat sterilization is the best way.

I just nip mine off with a pair of sterilized scissors. I always like to leave something so that I can see how many times the plant has bloomed in my care. Just a thought.

I'm with Nancy. I hate fiddling with things, just give me a pair of sterile scissors, 3 seconds, and a snip and it's done. How easy is that?

removing flower stalk

Code:
Anyone like to share how to remove finished flower without leaving a ugly black stick behind ?
Hi Catcym.
Best way to remove the flower stalk with out cutting into the bulbous part of the orchid is to follow the flower stalk down were it comes out the top of the bulbous part and at the bottom of the leaf stalk.
Snip off and no damage to plant.
the damaged plant should produce a new growth if all goes well.

Cheerio
Ron
