phal and oncidium alliance planted in the same pot??

I just bought an orchid for my mom for mothers day at trader joes. The plant is two in one, but it is a phal and an oncidium alliance. Will they be ok together or should I separate them?

They have different light requirements, maybe enjoy them for a bit, then repot them separatly.

I've seen the same plants for sale at Trader Joes - I'd advise the same - enjoy them while they bloom and then separate......They are basically selling them in this configuration for the cut flower value. As hard as it is to believe - many people just buy them for their blooming period and then discard.

Yes, they do. It's disturbing. They had three beautiful Cymbidiums in the lobby at my work and it was so pretty. Then week after week it started to die slowly. No one bothered to water it. I was so tempted to steal it or bring a pale of water to give them some moisture. If it wasn't a federal building I just might have. Thank god someone got rid of it. It was torture to see it dying like that.
