Draculas sprouting buds

I had had setup a glass tank to accommodate the Draculas. They seem to be doing well and I see many buds in two (out of 4)of them in the 1st setup.

I did subsequently purchase more Draculas and had another setup for them as well. This time I am attempting to grow a 'carpet' at the bottom with Irish moss, Scottish moss and Canadian moss. Hope it works. If it does and if articuno is successful in growing Habenarias I will try to plant them right in there

Moisture is almost 90% and the air flow is constant in both setups.

I am attaching a few photos. I am sorry about the quality of the photos. I will try to get better pictures later.

Glad things worked out for the Dracs. I was going to do a similar setup (although not as
extensive) this winter to try some cooler growers but due to unavailable time, it still is
a work in progress. Are you just using pans of water to control the humidity at this point? BTW: Nice addition of the moss.

Thank you, Tobi.

No, I have humidifiers going right outside the tank(s). One has an additional 'indoor water fountain' in front of it.

The setup 2 is just about a month old and is not complete yet.. I am not sure if the orchids like it, yet.

Very interesting. I have a couple of large fish tanks that is currently not in use. The fishes died while we were on vacation. Anyway, I might consider turning them into a growing environment like you did in the future. I can't wait to see the blooms.

Pikevi I'm subscribing to this thread to keep tabs on it cause I want to see how your 'chids fair. Reason is if this really pans out for you, this set up might be a good possibility for a Ghost Orchid, one I would like to have in the future.

Thanks.

solay: aeration is the only difficult part for the setup...Since it is enclosed it is hard to control the turbulence/vortex that will inevitably follow if the flow of air is strong. I am using small fans powered by PC power.

articuno75: I checked the 'net for ghost orchids.I am sure they will do fine as far as the conditions go. But there are many other stipulations that go with rearing them, I guess. Which ones are you looking at: Polyrrhiza lindenii or Dendrophylax lindenii? or are they both the same?

evagentry: ty. And I HAVE to think about Romania when I think about Draculas
