Paph armeniacum just potted in a basket

I have attached pictures which I wanted to share with you of my armeniacum which I just potted in a basket. I have read many posts about the basket being better for the stolon growths. If you can see under the right leaf, there is a new growth coming from the base of the plant. I also found a stolon growing. I really hope that it turns into a good growth also.
The tips on some of the roots had some rot on them so I trimmed those and put the roots in Hydrogen peroxide.

I am hoping that in the basket now it will thrive.

Thanks

Fadi

It will produce a nice display in a few years, my only worry would be large amount of bark there for a small plant.

You will need to monitor the moisture levels close to the plant.

I am using the skewer method, hoping that I won't water it too much. When it is nearly dry I will water. I also assumed that using the basket meant more air will come in and dry the bark. I will do an update of the situation with the basket. I am hoping for good results

That is true. I look forward to seeing the results, may try it on some of mine if yours goes well.

armeniacum in baskett

Hi
Very interesting way to grow the armeniacum.
They have a bad habit also of sending the stolens down into the bottom of the pot also.
I have about 12 plants and the are repotted each year.
if I am lucky on repotting i can usuall manage to lift the stolen up near the top of the pot hope it continues to grow.
Mostly the abort once you disturb them.
Usually some manage to come out of the bottom drainage hole and continue to grow in a good plant.
I tried slatted side pots but the dried out to quickly and the plant did not do so well.
I am going to repott some of them this spring into clear Phallie pots so as soon as I see a stolen reach the side or bottom of the pot I can cut a hole to allow the stolen to come out and grow on.
Will send a photo of the one growing out of the bottom of the pots drainage hole tomorrow. its 10 pm now.
The are one of the most lovely golden Paph flowers one could grow.

Cheerio
Ron

Just an update with a picture of the plant growing out of the bottom of the pot.
This plant is armeniacum x maliopense (Norito Hasegawa)
I find both parents do the same thing from time to time. this is why I will try the clear Phallie pot..

That's neat how it grows like that. A brand new plant.
