New Growths and Spikes

Well we have finally had cool weather and good soaking rains over the past 4 weeks with over night temps getting as low as 42 F (6C) and for the first time in 3 years a lot of my cyms are finally spiking.

Some, this is their first season flowering, so looks like I am in for a bumper crop at last, been a while.

Also in the GH a lot of my Dens are showing new growths as well, and my seedlings seem to also be in a growth spurt.

Over 12 months now, I have been waiting to get color in the GH and it looks like the time is nigh.

My Paph prime child has 4 new growths and I think there may also be a small spike, but a bit too early to tell, with my luck it'll be an air root, fingers crossed.

We are only just into FALL as well, winter is not yet upon us.

Anton, How cool! I can't wait for all those beautiful pictures of yours to start appearing! It's so strange to know that you're opposite us in weather. I'll never get used to that! We're gearing up for summer. Still have to bring my annual seedlings in at night- frost and all- Can plant out in about another month-
Good luck with all that new growth and all of new blooms-to-be!

you lucky dog. I'd love to have a couple of Cyms but they just cannot handle Florida's heat and relative lack of winter although Jerry told me at a recent show that a "new" warm-tolerant variety has been developed. I'm beginning to see a few of them at shows in Florida (cyms, I mean) so maybe there's hope.

LOL Anton. Your winter temperatures are still warm enough for those of us in Chicago to be dressed in shorts! Glad that the rain spirits gave you some rain and those babies are now spiking. Anxious to see some pics of the color in the greenhouse.
