Anyone have experience with Renanthera or Epigeneium?

Does anyone have an experience growing Renanthera or Epigeneium that they can share? I have a couple of very young ones. I haven't attempted so many vandacious guys since I moved up north. Asco's and Neofinetias (and a hybrid) are as close as I have

The Epigeneium is also young and appears to have a more Catt like growth habit. I fell in love with that one and would like them to suceed.

"Infant 'chids" make me a bit nervous.

Dear Clarita,

Indeed, very young orchids are more prone to drying and dying. Renantheras are not an exception. To avoid this mount your orchid on a bark, with a bit of sphagnum, and put it in a spot with very high light. Water daily in the morning when cool, and in the afternoon when hot. Do not overload with sphagnum, the stuff should dry up from day to day. You can water with very diluted fertilizer (1/10 of the recommended) every day in summer, and once every week in winter. The results will surprise you (first sign of happiness will be the roots, green and fleshy, and the flowers a year or two later).

Itamar

I have Renanthera.I put it in full sun. (you better don't try that) It all depend on hybrid to
hybrid. What was crossed and parentage. So you might want to supplement your plant with
HID light.

Thanks! I have the species Renanthera monachica. It came mounted with very little in the way of spag. Not wondering if I should add a little more?

Digitalgate its ok, I am a light fiend! Up in Chicago our light is very weak. It could go out this summer in full sun. I have the light to support it indoors. Its come fresh from the g/h so it should be acclimated. Its in ~5000fc's. Keeping the light more conservative b/c they are young. The leaves are a rose colour, they look healthy! Looking forward to the blooms.

The one that I really can't wait for is the Epigeneium amplum. The black lip and the green brown buds look so amazing!
