| Ctt. Sapphire Cattlianthe Sapphire is a result of the early efforts at breeding blue Cattleyas. It is out of Cattlianthe Ariel by Cattleya labiata. YES, it has always been known as Cattleya Sapphire, but when one of its grandparents, C bowringiana, was reclassified as a Guarianthe, it became an intergeneric hybrid...thus Guarianthe...what a freaking mess...and now they are all about to become Cattleya again. Anyway its pretty and is grown in the common Catt mode. Fast draining mix, allow to dry thoroughly between waterings. By the way this line of blue effort was abandoned years ago. ![]() |

| How beautiful!! Who cares if a judge would like it... Sometimes, of course,- but to have a beauty like this in my home, would be a blessing.

| Thanks guys. I mainly like species plants, but I'm keeping this one. I'm not sure what its status in commerce is. I was lucky enough to find an old guy (even older than me) in Cincinnati who was dispersing his collection of many years. We got many plants from him...some great ones and some not so great ones, but the price was right. We didn't pay more $25 for anything and it was all huge stuff. We got a C guatemalensis that we split into 3 huge plants with a hacksaw. Sometimes you get lucky. |
