Bollea coelestis Not rare but not often seen on forums. Bollea coelestis is from the Andes in Columbia. It is tolerant to temperature ranges but needs high humidity that is most easily maintained at cool to intermediate temps. We grow it directly in front of the wet wall of the greenhouse to give it the best conditions. It is said to be a summer bloomer in nature, but this one blooms nearly all year in captivity. ![]()

JLu, That is very lovely. The color pattern is striking. Might have to look into getting one for my cool growers in the basement that I have under lights. Where did you get yours from?

Tobi, the plant came from Tom Nasser at Carolina Orchids in Ft. Mill, SC (a suburb of Charlotte,NC). Tom (and wife Shan) sell many mature, large plants. I'm too old to be buying seedlings. Tom can tell you everything you need to to know about every plant in the place. It's amazing how much information he has in his head. None of it is BS either, he is a no BS kind of guy. Pretty much he will tell you about it and if you don't want it, then don't buy it...no sales job. I make a couple of trips a year and just wander through his 3 GH's collecting far to many plants to bring home. Last trip I intended to spend around $500 and left with $1700 worth and was extremely careful with my spending. Gawd only knows what I could have spent.

Thanks JLu. I was just telling a couple of other members here in their posts that Tom had done a lecture on his Bulbos at our orchid society meeting in Jan. Great person and I will be contacting him to find out some info. Thanks again.
