Cool Am I stressing my phal?

Last summer, all my orchids were infested with red mites and 2 applications of insecticidal soap did the trick although I had minor burning on a few leaves. I thought they wouldn't recover but all of them are all right now.

What I didn't expect is for my phal to start spiking again. It is trying to put out 3 new roots, 1 leaf and spiking all at the same time. I'm concerned that this will be too stressful after last winter's mite attack.

Should I let the spike develop or cut if off? It is only 1 inch high right now and has 4 leaves ranging from 1 foot to 6 inches. It has been flowering for me every year.

ETA
I had an embarrasing typo, and I just had to fix it. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Chrono, I would think that the new leaf, roots and spike are a sign that the plant is happy and doing well

Sounds like you are doing something right - I'd let it go and enjoy it. If you got roots and leaves growing at the same time it is spiking it sounds like you have the best of both worlds! What area do you live in - you might update your profile so we can see - this might influence what others give as advice now or in the future.

chrono I have a couple Phals that grow this way. It's just amazing to watch them go crazy! It's largely in their genetics along with good orchid culture, just enjoy.
