My Milt

Thought I'd add some pictures for you all to see of my Milt. Hajime Ono 'Black Falls'.

It has one spike that is showing out of the leaves right now, and as it popped out, it broke the spike partly...so 4 out of 6 buds blasted. But the other two seem to be growing well...Needless to say I was pretty upset when I realized what had happened...but just the other day I saw two more spikes through the leaves. One new spike has started on the other side of the PB in the middle, and then on the next PB I can see one more spike beginning.

I have had this orchid since January, and was terribly afraid of killing it, since I read so many people saying that they kill their Milts too easily.

i have been waiting so long for this to bloom. I am getting really antsy. The two buds that are still on there are getting bigger, and I can see some color starting on them, so hopefully it'll happen soon. With three spikes though, I'm hoping we're in for a nice show.

I agree that this plant is pretty big. It's just so tall! I was surprised, after I got two Milts off ebay, and both look like....well....crap. This one I got from Komoda orchids, and wow, I opened the box and was so impressed.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Oh! How I love this stuff! A picture when it first opens and one in full bloom would be nice! Am I being greedy? I don't care! I can't stand suspense- I want to see what it looks like! I also love a great show, so I want to see it in all it's glory!! Good luck!

I will definitely be taking plenty of pictures. I am stalking that plant like a hawk, looking for any change whatsoever. I'm crazy

Here is the first bloom, which tore at the bottom a little bit. It seemed to have an issue opening since it was so close to the leaves. This is on the spike that broke when it came out of the leaf.

JoBeth I really like the flower color! It's pretty. Is the center a dark purple or black? I can't really tell from the pic. It looks black to me. Nice contrast.

It's black, which is one reason why I wanted it. I love it

Even with the imperfection, it looks great. Don't even notice the tear. How pretty the colors are too. It looks like a pretty big sized bloom.

I love it. Great growing JoBeth!! My one and only Milt. was a Hajime Ono and after
several bud blasts I eventually lost the plant to root rot. I commend you on getting
yours to bloom.

Beautiful flower! Congrat on the growing. I have waited 12 months for mine to flower again. The 1st spike came out just before to xmas, I was so happy. But I was away during xmas and the spike dried Eventually, it gave another spike with 4 flowers in bloom right now.

But I do like your milto, beautiful colors... Oh dear I am never satisfied, I always want more

Also wanted to add, this Milt had two more spikes, yet apparently they got stuck in the leaf on the way out. Look what they did. Has anyone else had this happen?

Thought I'd add in here, my three Milts are all doing really well in the aliflor. The one I got from Larry's orchids, that all the roots were rotted and sickly, and another that I got from another ebay vendor with all rotted roots, now have roots all growing out of the bottom of the pot.

I don't/can't grow milts but yes, I've had this happen with my Miltassia Shelob last year and just recently with my Aspasia lunata. I think it had to do with too little light both plants were getting.

well crap. I really do need to get that light meter. I actually have that Milt closest to the window on my top shelf, and was worried about it getting TOO much light.

I know nothing about Miltonia's JoBeth so don't take my experience as advice to you. I would hate for you to give it more light when, that may not be what caused the buds on yours to have not grown up and out.
