what is nobile vs. non-nobile dendrobium

I have a phalaenopsis type dendrobium. Do i care for it with the nobile or non-nobile type care instructions?

No. Phal-type dendrobiums require different care than nobile-type dens. For a good culture sheet on how to grow phal-type dens, go to AOS | Home.

have to correct Kevin's typo

Phal dens take one type of care as described on the AOS sheet.

Species and hybrid nobiles take a very different type of care with hybrid nobiles being a little more flexible in care than species nobiles.

Phal type Dens don't need a winter rest. You might cut back slightly on the fertilization
and watering during the winter, but their care is pretty much the same year round.
Nobile types need the winter rest, so Phal. types are not nobile types.
