Bulbophyllum

Hi all. I'm considering buying a Bulbophyllum, either ambrosia or lasiochilum. Anyone out there growing these? Anybody here who can help me with deciding which one would better fit my growing conditions here in Fla.? I'm growing semi outdoors, on a screened patio with eastern light and a little west light in summers.

Thanks!

GO FOR IT!! I really like my Bulbo. Blooming it's head off right now.

Bulb. ambrosia is a really pretty little flower (I like it better than the lasiochilum). Both should do well for you. They don't need much light - definitely no direct light. They will love your temps!

Now did you really think I was going to say 'NO DON'T DO IT!' ???? LOL

Vivienne, thanks for the vote. I had a feeling it would be a good grower for my conditions from everything I keep reading. I think I'm going to buy both of them, what the hey!

If you've got any pics of yours hanging around and wouldn't mind?....

Here ya go. Not the best time to take pics... some are open and some will open tomorrow. There are 5 inflorescences... 4 are bloooming and all 5 will be blooming in the next day or two.

Received that in March at the Denver Spring Show. It only had 2 inflorescences blooming at the time.

Likes it intermediate to warm, so no chills

Part from that, likes to be kept moist, bit drier in winter, when it flowers.

A mix of bark and spag does it well, bit of a rambler, so may want a mount of a basket of some sort.

I've got an idea.....let's do a Bulbophyllum growing project <----just kidding

I'm going to order mine over the weekend. Have to find the best selection first. Any vendor recommendations, once again?

I speak of one with a really rotten, putrid smell ... Nay, a malicious vile odor! A positively foul rancid scent!

I'm thinking of Bulbophyllum Jersey. Anybody growing this?

Vivienne, I want the ambrosia but so far, I haven't come across one from any vendors...yet. I'll keep looking.

Hey Sandra, what is the final choice and where are you getting it from? I may be interested.
