| Encyclia Green Hornet This is the other plant I purchased from Oak Hill last week, Encyclia Green Hornet. The first flower opened yesterday. Thought I'd share.... ![]() |

| Hmmm. This one intrigues me. 99% of the time Prosyclia Green Hornet just looks like Prosthechea cochleata. I used to see them all the time at shows and think, "What's the point?" But your Green Hornet shows much more of the other patent, Enc trulla which is where it gets the fullness in the petals and now I see what the point was. This is probably the nicest Green Hornet I've ever seen.

Not entirely sure yet what it needs, exactly. The bark it's in was what it was shipped to me in. This is the first new plant I have not repotted, I love the quality of the bark and have decided to keep it in it until I intuitively begin to know what it needs, doesn't need. For now, I'm treating it like an Onc. alliance, giving it a lot of morning sun and then high light the remainder of the day, a little less than Dends, watering when it begins to dry, almost like I would for my Phals. The flower is prettier than I was able to capture with my camera. The petals look like they're sugar coated. |

| Sandra, That is beautiful. The petals on mine are alot thinner and I agree with Patti and Kevin that the thicker ones add so much more to the bloom. Mine just opened its first bloom on Saturday. As my wife would say "the squid is back" (LOL) |

| Encyclia and Prosthechea are both in the Cattleya Alliance. General cattleya culture applies though I find Prosthechea cochleata doesn't seem to need asmuch light as cattleyas.

| Tobi, I thought I was getting one with the same flower as in your pic. Have always loved and wanted this plant. The pic on Oak Hill's website showcased the flower exactly like yours. I admit, I'm pleasantly surprised but surprised, nonetheless. P.S. Our plants both began blooming on the same date! |

| Just thought I'd show an update on how this is doing. I have really enjoyed this plant, it's continuously blooming, the fragrance reminds me of licorice and it's been so prolific with 6 new growths. Can't wait till next year! ![]() |

| That plant DEFINATELY LIKES YOU! Keep doing whatever you're doing. Thanks for sharing the good pics too. I have to admit I have seen these in shows and have not been too excited about them, but the more I see yours the more I'm inclined to change my mind! |

| Thanks Mike...yeah, it definately likes me<-----I like that! and, You're quite welcome Jay. It's the least I could do in return for the FDK After Dark you've helped add to my wish list. One good turn deserves another. |
