Keiki on Pleurothallis restrepiodes

Is this possible?? I was so excited as I thought my Pleuro restrepiodes had a spike but I just grabbed the magnifying glass for a closer look and I swear, there is a root growing! I will try to take a pic this afternoon but have to run out for a meeting.

Yup, I purchased one from Andy's orchids a month or so ago because it was covered in keikis...and was only $14. I took off most of the keikis and mounted them around the yard but am not holding my breath because I don't have any shady and moist microclimates.

Pleurothallis restrepoides is a keiki machine, pumping them out one on top of the other. You can leave the keiki on forever, or take it off once it's big enough to see without a magnifying glass and it's got good roots.

Thanks! I sure didn't know that. Still bummed that it's not a spike but I'll take a keiki too. I won this little guy in a raffle and it's been growing like crazy.

Thanks - now it looks like my Restrepia striata is going to keiki (x3). At least something is coming in where the old blooms were.

So does this mean my plants are stressing? Or doing their thing?

Update

Here are some pics of my Pleuros and Masdevallia that are doing odd things... or are they normal things?

Pleurothallis restrepiodes with keiki?

Restrepia striata - what is growing where the old bloom once was?

Masd. Maui Jewel - it finished blooming, bloom fell off and now in it's place it looks like a new bud. Is that possible?

A picture of my 'Pleuro Case'.

This is neat. I did not know that Pleurothallis made keikis. I hope someone can give some more ideas on these.

The auto focus on your camera focused on the log in the back and making the growth in question too blurry for me to tell what it is.

Yup, absolutely Maui Jewel, in my experience, is a good bloomer.

Will try to get another picture.

Does the Maui Jewel bloom off the same 'spike'?

Better picture of growth on Restrepia striata. This is the biggest of three (the others growing on different leaves).

I'll have to take some pics today. The keiki on the Pleuro restrepiodes has made some minor changes (not worthy of a pic), but my Restepia striata - that has suddenly gone in to growth overload. They are keikis in the pic above!! And they are growing quickly.

Wow, that is soo cool! I can't wait for mine to do that. Does it flower everytime it grows a new leaf?
