| It really depend on the type of Vanda you want to grow. Some Vanda is full sun (therefore you might not have enought sunlight up north). Some diffused sunlight. All in all it is a warm growing species=> you need temperature above 60s year round. Like my weather.. he he he. not to make you jealous. (remember jealous lead to hate... hate lead to dark side.,,,) But you can still grow nice Vanda by reading up on the cultural requirement and armed yourself with a light meter would be even better. |

And like my weather too..hehehe but, the light it needs is imperative to growing Vandas well which I'm fearing may be my downfall. Come autumn, I'm going to need to move mine. psyc1210, from everything I've read here and elsewhere, Vandas thrive in lots of humidity, lots of light, high temps...HIGH. I'm brand new to Vandas also. FlaCo sent me 4 babies last week and I'm giving them as much light as I can which isn't full sun and I'm feeling a bit nervous. They're in baskets with no medium, just spraying their roots early morning, daily. Good luck and please post updates if you decide to get one. |

| Sandra, I wouldn't worry too much. My parents have their Ascda. and other Vanda. mounted under big coconut trees. They get light through the leaves but mostly shaded. Guess what ...they are blooming. I mounted them with lots of spag. or tied their baskets to the tree trunk and threw some spag in there. The reason for the spag is that the wind, heat and other factors dry them out FAST.
