Brassovola NOID

I am up in the office watering my orchids and it suddenly dawned on me that this plant has not bloomed for awhile & I can't figure out what I am not doing. IT was re-potted in 7/06 into a nice mix of bark, perlite, dyna-roc, & charcole. It gets east light exposure with some direct sun through a window during the winter. During the sp, sum, fall, its outside on a rack with my other orchids under my trellis. The darn thing looks healthy, puts out new growth but won't bloom.

While I am at it, I have the same problem with two plants of BC Makii "Miami" that were repotted in 5/05
Any suggestions?

Those should bloom easy so the only reason for good growth and no flowers is insufficient light. Your conditions do not sound too low but give it more sun.

Bassovola have terret leaves (pencil shape) which allows them to dissipate heat easily. It is the heat buildup that burns the leaves not the sun (although one comes with the other). They can accept quite high light levels so keep giving it more light until you see the leaves start to tan (turn reddish).

In agreement with and possibly adding to Jerry. One thing I've read about (from a couple of different sources) is that some orchids grow like the dickens in some environments, yet do not flower. The two most common reasons for this are insufficient light, and the second is lack of a temperature drop at night. Many orchids need the warmer day/cooler night cycle to bloom.

A window may provide a temperature change in your office.
