Spiking plant

I've a Bur. Pacific Command Huina Road that is sending up two spikes (a third broke some time ago, darn it). These are almost 3 feet tall, multiple flower branches and what looks like several flowers per branch.

This is it's first bloom since purchased, and am wondering when these spikes will stop their upward climb? Also, how long will the flowers last? I leave the country in ten days and won't be back 'till early May. I fear I will miss the big show. Regardless, I'll have a pic taken.

I think you will catch the last part of the show from what you describe. I only have one Burr. and from the time the buds were starting to enlarge to the time the flowers had all faded was approximately two months. Enjoy!

I have a lot of Pacific Command. The flowers (if not too hot) will last up to 12 weeks.

A good size 6-8 inch pot can put up 4-8 spikes easily.

Your cool temperature suits all Oncidium Intergenerics. They flower in Hawaii in August September. We use the bright orange for Halloween. Out fall temperatures are arriving in January recently so I do not know when mine will re-bloom.

Thanks for the info (and pic). Cool now (just had more snow today) so there should be plenty of blooms when I return. I've the night temp. set for around 58 deg. and 65 for most of the day, with a 6 hour spike of 72.

Thanks again.

Back from Spain (should have spent more time in Seville) and the plant looks great. The flowers are quite beautiful and interesting themselves, but it is the size of the whole display that holds my attention. Nearly five feet to the top of the tallest (yet to bloom) spike.
