wow what gorgeous orchids, I am looking at my spikes on my two and think " One Day" they just might look like that. They are so exotic, arent they. But I am finding you need so much patience to grow them. or is it me. Not used to the long wait for them to bloom unlike other plants that grow quickly. thankyou for those gorgeous pics.

OK OK, I swore off buying orchids until the SF show but I just love the first picture. Does anyone know what it is.

Hummer it might be a Baldans Kaliedascope (sp??) The colors seem richer, and I'm not sure the Baldans has an orange lip, but it sure would be close. Edit: Okay - I found you this link and it's not quite the same picture. Phalaenopsis orchid - Baldan's Kaleidoscope Personallly i love the orange undertones and lip!

Janeteagle it depends a lot on the quality of the coco fiber you are using. Technically you can grow an orchid in anything if you adjust your watering habits to fit your environment and the charateristics of the medium. I think it would work well if mixed with something else, like coir, bark or coco husks.

Look in the Newbie section and look up the 'Skewer method.' This will help you to know when to water, no matter what medium you choose.

Okay, it only took me two seconds! Heres the link: http://www.orchidgeeks.com/forum/orc...f-orchids.html

Hi Twirly.
Just love the first one, such brightness and contrast of colour.
Wow.
The white is a lovely shade also
Thanks
Ron

I find the last one the most striking of the lot.

That pink one with the petals leaning back is unusual.

I found this on ebay, very similiar if not exactlylike the Baldans pictured above. It is huge, Gorgeous! with three spikes and just went up for auction yesterday. Hummer isn't interested right now (show in SF coming up!) so I hope one of you would give this poor thing a loving home. Heres the link:ORCHID BALDANS 'KALEIDOSCOPE 'SUNBURST' AM/AOS' HUGE - eBay (item 140304271709 end time Mar-05-09 15:13:45 PST)
