This is my most recent bloom-- the actual bloom was a mystery until it opened for its first time ever for me late last week.

I don't know how old the plant is, but its really not big at all-- but the bloom is quite large.

JoBeth: What does your tag from Carter & Holmes say? Mine has no freckles and the tag states: Phal Fancy Musick
(Phal. Micro-nova ‘Stones River’ x Phal equestris alba ‘Clarkson’) Is this the alba form that Brooke referred to?

Just curious, as I'm still Boo Hoo'in that mine's just a plain Jane.

Sharyn,

Mine says the same thing on the tag for both of those plants. I guess bc they are seed grown there are the differences in appearance.

Wow, such a big difference in this seed grown Fancy Musick orchid. Your first one, yellow, second one with freckles, mine with bright pink lip and NO freckles. I understand the difference between seed grown and mericlone, but I never imagined that it meant such a big difference -- all with the same orchid.

So, I guess this means that I need to look for a mericlone of Fancy Musick if I want spots or take my chances with the seed grown version?

Or just buy one that you find in bloom I know that Al's orchid greenhouse has Fantasy Musick. I can check there when I go next, and could see about shipping one to you with freckles, lol

Great color! I love it. Oh, and guess what? My little Fancy Musick bloomed a few more flowers recently, and low and behold, the flowers have freckles! As each new flower blooms, there are more and more spots...........go figure! From spotless to spots in less than six blooms.

That one is one of my presents from Brooke, maybe she can tell you where she got them from. I think she told me orchidview.com but I'm not 100% on that.

Here are my two latest bloomers. First is my very first orchid, which is in the My first orchid AFTER aliflor thread. It finally rebloomed for me, and it is just lovely.

Second is Phal Venus x celebensis

Your Phal Anna-Larati Soekardi is gorgeous. How often do you water it in that hydroton? Do you grow in a greenhouse, I am not sure if I read that somewhere? Thanks.

These little phals I'm starting see more often, such as JoBeth's Phal Anna-Larati Soekardi, and that Phal violacea...the flowers have more of slightly pointed petal as opposed to the round phal petals I see more frequently. I've got that little yellow cornu-cervi with kind of pointy petals and I'm starting to become quite enamoured of that type. ... is this little pointy petal guy a specific strain? A species? Are these even good questions?

Ok, I'm updating my own post with an answer...I googled "species plants"+Phal and you'd never believe...one of the first few hits was an orchidgeek thread from 2008...Brooke and JoBeth has quite an impressive list with numerous others adding names...

Seek and ye shall find...
